Tito Costa has been named to two Java™ Specification Requests (JSR) expert groups within Sun’s Java Community Process (JCP) program.
San Diego, CA (May 13th, 2002) - Tito Costa, Uppli's founder, will participate in the expert group led by Panasonic, Inc. to define next generation's instant messaging and presence services for Java 2 Platform, Standard and Micro Edition.
JSR 164 - JAIN™ SIMPLE Presence and JSR 165 - JAIN™ SIMPLE Instant Messaging will develop a JAIN™ API based on IETF standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and SIMPLE.
SIP has emerged as the de facto industry standard for session management over IP networks; SIMPLE is an IETF working group that defined a set of extensions to SIP to support presence and instant messaging. SIP and SIMPLE combined will grant interoperability and scalability to instant messaging services over wireline and mobile internet.
